RankStack.com
Behind the Site
I founded PremiumBrands because choosing the name is part of building the business. I buy names I would be willing to put on a real product, introduce in a real conversation and keep using as the business becomes more demanding. RankStack.com belongs in that collection because it gives a search founder a clear place to begin and room to build beyond the first tool.
The decision that changed my view
In 2007, I acquired the press release distribution business operating on i-Newswire.com. I secured iNewswire.com in 2013. The business moved to Newswire.com in February 2015, after more than a year of negotiating and after consulting SEO professionals about the change. I wanted the name we used to match the business we were working to become.
The morning of that switch, a prospect told one of our sales agents, “Oh yeah, Newswire.com. I've heard of you guys.” That was impossible. We had just made the change. I still remember the moment because it showed me how much of an introduction can happen before the product demonstration or the detailed explanation begins. The team had the same work to do that morning, but we were doing it under the name we had wanted.
Issuer Direct acquired the business in 2022 for about $44 million, as reported in the acquisition announcement. That was a purchase of the business and the team's work, not a valuation of the domain. The experience left me paying closer attention to the relationship between a business and the name it grows into.
Buy the name you would build on
I bought PremiumBrands.com before I had a plan for it. Premium names matter to me, and waiting would probably have cost me the chance to use this one. By now it could belong to someone building on it, in which case it would most likely be unavailable. I wanted the option to build under that identity, so I made the decision before every part of the business plan was settled.
My test for a name is straightforward: would I build on this? That question puts me in the position of the end user. I picture the introduction, the email address, the product screen and the work required to make the business worth returning to. The names I have not built on yet are the ones I am open to selling through PremiumBrands. My broader strategy and development work sits with OnlineBusiness.com, which gives me another reason to consider names as working identities.
Why RankStack belongs here
For a search founder, the useful picture is a team with information spread across reports and a need to decide what happens next. I can see RankStack on the shared account where those decisions live. A founder could begin with one reporting workflow, earn repeat use and add the next part of the job under the same name. That is a business direction I can understand, rather than a collection of features waiting for a label.
A search business also needs an identity it can carry from a technical discussion to a client meeting. The person buying the service may care about a different detail from the analyst using it. I like that RankStack gives the founder a consistent introduction while the explanation becomes more specific for each person. The founder can concentrate on the work the business will be known for.
Make the naming decision part of the build
The fix-it-later mindset puts the name behind every other early decision. I understand the temptation, but a later change reaches into email addresses, report templates, customer instructions, contracts and the habits people have already formed. I prefer to make the identity decision while those pieces are being created. With AI making more products easier to reproduce, I put particular value on a recognizable name that another team cannot copy along with the feature list.
A great name won't save a bad business. The founder still has to make the product useful, deliver the service and keep the promises made to customers. My interest is in giving that work an identity worth carrying through the first launch and the years that follow.
If RankStack.com fits what you want to build, tell me about the business and the acquisition you have in mind. If your best name is outside this collection, I can also help you pursue it. Both conversations start with the business you want to introduce to the world. A premium .com is a trust shortcut.
